Front sign
Sell the vintage sign, restore it, or replace it.
Next steps
- To doGet the old sign appraised: photos + measurements to a vintage sign dealer/auction
- To doMeasure the sign (top cabinet, pole cabinet, height) and check inside for neon/transformers
- To doGet 2 restore/reface quotes using the concept renders, plus 1 new-sign quote
The sign today
The old pylon sign from Christian Assembly of God: a mid-century T-shaped, double-sided painted-steel sign. It has script "Christian" lettering, a big cross, and the old service times. The round fittings along the letters look like old neon tube mounts. It is heavily rusted, and the top of the pole cabinet is open.
Three paths
- No comparable sale supports $5k+ in this condition. The one $5,500 sale was a small 'Jesus Saves' neon sign from a celebrity's collection, sold in Los Angeles.
- The buyer pays for a crane, removal and freight, which lowers offers.
- The script 'Christian' panel alone might bring $500–1,500 from a decor buyer.
- Sandblast, repair and repaint the cabinets: about $3–8k.
- New back-lit faces (logo top, welcome panel bottom) with LED lighting: about $1.5–5k. LED neon accents are optional extra.
- Optional: swap the lower panel for an LED message board ($3.8k+). Planter refresh and up-lights are a volunteer job.
- LED message centers start near $3,800; most cost $5–25k.
- The most practical option, but generic.
- A new structure usually needs a permit, and the old sign may lose its grandfathered status.
Recommendation: Take the concept renders to Nickels Signs in Corinth and Frank Balton in Memphis for restore-and-reface quotes. If the steel is too far gone, sell or donate just the 'Christian' script panel and put up a new sign. Before anything, ask a vintage-sign dealer (Liquid Fire, Matthews) for an appraisal from photos. It's free, and it settles the $5k question.
Redone sign concept
Concept: keep the existing T-shaped sign and re-skin it. Top cabinet: back-lit white face with the shield crest and 'Rock Solid Ministries' Battlefield Christian Church' lockup. Lower cabinet: dark panel with lit 'Welcome / Join us for worship'. Refresh the brick planter with plants and up-lights. These are AI renders, so give the sign maker the real logo files (logos/ folder): the render shows a stray accent over the E in BATTLEFIELD and an extra apostrophe after MINISTRIES.

Permits

|---|---|---|---|
| MDOT Outdoor Advertising | — | State | A sign advertising the church on its own lot ('on-premise') is not MDOT-controlled. Keep it out of the highway right-of-way. |
| City of Corinth Code Enforcement (Kim Ratliff) | (662) 287-2401 | Corinth | Confirm whether the lot is inside city limits and what a reface vs. a new sign needs. If outside, check Alcorn County. |
Before calling
- Measure the sign (top cabinet, pole cabinet, overall height) and take close photos of the inside before calling anyone.
- Refacing the existing structure usually needs an electrical permit at most. A brand-new sign usually needs a sign/building permit.
- LED neon costs about a quarter as much to run as glass neon and is much tougher outdoors.
