Rooms drawn to scale
Sizes are to scale, but rooms are packed side by side — this is not the building layout yet. Once we know where each room sits, this becomes a real floor plan.
Used before by Micheal. Not inspected, as-is, no returns. Mixed sizes make a clean install much harder. Product page says 'plus applicable freight', but the cart showed no freight. Call to confirm.
Combo A: planks in the auditorium, squares everywhere else
Refurbished Gray Plank for the auditorium (4,200 sf, 1,556 tiles, $3,318.95) + Gray Family Squares for all other rooms (4,529 sf, 1,678 tiles, $4,335.29). Freight $499.10, one shipment.
$8,153
Combo B: one pallet for the fellowship hall, planks everywhere else
One unsorted pallet (1,672 sf) for the fellowship hall + back right room ($586.87 after discount) + Refurbished Gray Plank for everything else (7,057 sf, 2,614 tiles, $5,575.66). Freight $414.28. The pallet's own freight may be billed separately.
$6,577
All refurbished plank
Same as option 1: one look throughout, inspected tiles.

Carpet USA (Biscuit's Bargains) is the supplier Micheal has used before. The four Carpet USA products are the ones he picked. Prices and freight below come from Carpet USA's live cart, shipped to 170 MS-2 NE, Corinth MS 38834 (Oct 12, 2026). Freight is extra: LTL truck with liftgate to the curb, no inside delivery, ships in 2–4 business days plus 2–5 days transit. Totals don't include adhesive (≈ $1,300 releasable glue, or Hac-tacs for glueless) or sales tax. Random-mix lots vary, so buy everything in one order.
Totals are material only, before freight and tax. Adhesive: use releasable pressure-sensitive glue so single tiles can be swapped (e.g. Henry 650R, ~$162 per 4-gal pail, covers ~1,200 sf → 8 pails ≈ $1,300). Install labor typically $0.50–$1.00/sf (≈ $4,400–$8,700); a volunteer install is realistic on a clean, flat floor. No retailer advertises a church discount — ask anyway, and ask HD/Lowe's Pro desks for a volume quote. Dalton GA liquidators are ~4–5 hrs away; picking up with a trailer saves freight. Local stores to call for quotes: Adair Carpet & Flooring, Tupelo (662) 842-4000 · House of Carpet, Tupelo (662) 844-2000 · Five Point Carpet Center, Corinth (662) 287-2044 · Lesley's Floor Designs, Corinth (662) 287-9430 · Corinth Carpet Center, 1805 Shiloh Rd. Prices researched Oct 12, 2026; Home Depot/Lowe's/Pentz numbers come from search snippets, so confirm them before ordering.
Soffit repair (whole building)
Contractors to call for soffit/fascia quotes on the entire building. Phone numbers were seen on a listing or website (Oct 2026).
Houzz lists these local 'soffit repair' contractors without phone numbers: McCalla Builders (Corinth), Cook Construction (Rienzi), Colton's Home Improvements (Iuka), Campbell Construction (Belden).
Give every bidder the same scope: total linear feet of soffit and fascia, priced per linear foot, one material (vinyl or aluminum; vented helps attic airflow), and fascia wrap gauge/color.
Rot: on a 1972 building the wood behind the soffit is likely rotted in spots. Get a unit price per foot/board for replacing rafter tails and sub-fascia so surprise rot can't balloon the price. No wrapping over rotten wood.
Price gutters and drip edge as separate lines — gutters often come off to wrap the fascia.
Before signing: liability + workers' comp certificates naming the church, MS contractor license if over $10K, workmanship + manufacturer warranty, start date, cleanup and payment schedule. Ask about church pricing.
LED lighting upgrade
Goal: replace all the old lights with LED as cheaply as possible. The building's electric company is ACE Power (Alcorn County Electric Power Association). It is the local partner for TVA EnergyRight, which pays rebates on LED tubes and fixtures. Start with ACE's free lighting analysis.
CALL FIRST. Free commercial energy audit + indoor/outdoor lighting analysis. Ask: does the church qualify for TVA EnergyRight? Do they own/rent the parking-lot lights? (ACE rents outdoor lights on 48-month contracts.) M–F 8–5, custserv.ace@gmail.com
Fast Track Lighting: no pre-approval. FY25 rates: $4 per 4′ LED tube, $3 per 2′ tube, $7 U-bend, $18 per 2×2 panel, $22 per 2×4 panel (capped near 70% of material cost). Keep every invoice. TVABusinessIncentive@tva.gov
19′ lift ~$84–156/day; 26′ ~$154–242/day or ~$409/week. Do all the tall sanctuary work in one rental week.
Tips
Not used: USDA REAP grants exclude nonprofits, and the 179D tax deduction ended for projects starting after June 30, 2026.
Before calling anyone, count the fixtures: tube length (2′/4′/8′), T12 or T8, ballast label, sanctuary bulb types, and which rooms have dimmers. Take photos.
Cheapest mix: Type B (ballast-bypass) LED tubes, about $4–12 each, in fixtures that are still sound. Use LED panels or retrofit kits where old 1972 T12 fixtures have corroded sockets ($18–22 TVA rebate each). Have an electrician do or check the bypass wiring. Volunteers can relamp under supervision.
Type A plug-and-play tubes need no wiring, but they fail when the old ballast dies and often won't work on old T12 magnetic ballasts.
Sanctuary: LED high-bay or screw-in retrofits for the cans. Buy dimmable lamps if the room has dimmers.
Painting
Painters to call for quotes. Listed best fit first; all phone numbers were seen on a listing or website (Oct 2026).
Residential. Phone from a search snippet only. Confirm they take commercial work.
Tips
Give every painter the same scope sheet: each room, ceiling height (call out the tall sanctuary ceiling), and which surfaces. Ask for separate prices for interior, exterior trim and pressure washing.
Put the materials in writing: who buys the paint, brand/line, sheen, primer + 2 coats.
Lead paint: the building is from 1972, before the 1978 lead-paint ban. Ask painters to test before sanding or scraping and to be EPA RRP (lead-safe) certified, especially for the nursery and toddler rooms.
Define prep (patching, caulking, moving pews), schedule around Sunday/Wednesday services, and ask for insurance certificates, church/commercial references, dates, a payment schedule with no large deposit, and the warranty.
Chairs (~250) and selling the pews
Low priority. Looking for about 250 free or very cheap chairs, and buyers for the old pews. No single source had 250 matching used chairs, so expect to combine lots or buy banquet chairs. Budget: roughly $5,000–7,500 used, or $12,300+ new.
As of Oct 2026: 120 burgundy interlocking cushioned chairs at $25 each ($3,000 OBO) and 215 mauve interlocking stackable chairs at $50 each. Those two lots could cover all 250. Negotiate, and call to find where each lot is.
Used hotel banquet stack chairs, $19.95 each with a discount at 100+. 250 = about $4,988 + freight. Cheapest padded option, but banquet style, not linking church chairs.
Ask whether they buy pews. Flashback Inc. (Memphis) is another option.
Tips
Expect low dollar value for pews: about $50 for a worn pew and $75 or more in good shape, roughly $4–6 per foot. The real win is getting buyers to haul them away.
Pew listing: photos, the length of each pew, the count, and 'buyer removes'. Post the same listing on UsedPews.org and Facebook Marketplace.
Chairs: buy enough of one lot to match, and pick up within driving distance to skip freight.
