Gravel parking lot (front)
Dig out and gravel the front parking lot area, about 50 × 200 ft, with #57 stone. Rayburn is bringing his backhoe.
⚠ Urgent

- Hand-dig within 18 inches of either side of every paint line: yellow = gas, blue = water, green = sewer. If anything gets hit, call 811 first, then the utility.
- Private lines 811 doesn't mark: find the old front sign's power line, and the water and sewer lines from the meters to the building, before digging near them.
- The ticket expires Mon 11/09 at 12:40 PM. If the work is still going, update it 11/3–11/4.

The front parking lot area, facing MS-2 (Hwy 2): about 50 ft out from the front wall and about 200 ft long (10,000 sq ft). Rayburn is bringing his backhoe to dig out 4 to 6 inches of dirt so the church can order gravel. Mississippi law requires an 811 locate request before any digging with equipment.
What it could look like

- Option 1, all gravel: the whole front lot in #57 stone, up to the building and around the sign.
- Option 2, gravel + landscaping: the same parking, plus planting beds with mulch, shrubs and a small tree by the front of the building, a grass strip, and a bed around the sign base.
- These are AI mockups to show the idea; the real layout and plants are still to decide.
Utility marks: all done (Oct 23)

- The water line runs right past the sign planter: hand-dig anywhere near the sign and within 18 inches of each paint line.
- Color guide: WHITE = our dig area · RED = electric · YELLOW = gas · ORANGE = phone/internet (AT&T) · BLUE = water · GREEN = sewer · PINK = survey.

- Private lines aren't marked: the old sign's power line, and the water and sewer lines from the meters to the building.

Quarries and haulers: #57 stone (call when it's time)
Decision: #57 stone (¾-inch clean crushed stone) from Vulcan Materials, Rayburn's recommendation. Quarries usually sell by the ton at the scale; a local dump-truck hauler brings it to Corinth. When calling ask: price per ton of #57, delivered price to 170 MS-2 NE Corinth (or haul rate), tons per truckload, minimum order, and how soon. Phone numbers are from listings; confirm when you call.

Online prices include delivery and run high. Also call a local quarry or a dump-truck hauler directly; buying by the truckload is usually cheaper. Ask Rayburn who he uses.

Notes
- Before submitting: mark the dig area with white spray paint or white flags, and have the address (170 MS-2 NE, Corinth, Alcorn County), the work type (digging out dirt for gravel, with a backhoe), and where on the property (front of the building).
- 811 only marks up to each meter or the property line. Private lines are on the church: the old front sign likely has a buried power line, plus water and sewer lines from the meter to the building. Ask Rayburn where the sign power runs before digging.
- Keep the email confirmation with the ticket number; the dig isn't legal until it arrives. Hand-dig near any marks (about 18 inches either side).
- How much: 10,000 sq ft at 4 in deep ≈ 123 cubic yards ≈ 170 tons; at 6 in ≈ 185 cubic yards ≈ 260 tons (at about 1.4 tons per cubic yard).
- What to buy: crusher run (2″ minus, also called crushed limestone base) packs down hard and is the usual parking-lot gravel. #57 (clean ¾″ stone) drains better but rolls under tires; some lots use crusher run with a thin #57 top.
- Rough cost: at about $83–100 a ton delivered (online prices), 170 tons ≈ $14,000–17,000 and 260 tons ≈ $21,500–26,000. A local truckload price could be much lower; get 2–3 quotes before digging.
- To save: gravel only the parking area that's actually driven on, use 4 in instead of 6, or ask about crushed concrete (often cheaper).
